Card of the Week – Hangarback Walker

hangarback

Typically, I prefer to pick some under the radar budget card for Card of the Week. Today I’ll be focusing on a not so budget card that has already made an impact on my local games.

Hangarback Walker is a bomb.

For starters, the Walker comes into play with power and toughness equal to half the mana you spend on it.

Secondly, you can spend just one mana to give it yet another +1/+1 counter. Believe it or not, this is its downside. It has to tap to gain the counter which leaves it not attacking for that turn.

Last, if ever it dies, all the +1/+1 counters become 1/1 flying Thopter tokens. This is an amazing ability. Most removal save for exiling the creature causes a severe disadvantage for the opponent. Consider you can even cast a sweeper spell and leave a horde of flying tokens in it’s wake!

Hangarback Walker is a pricey little card and its ofr good reason. I highly recommenced this tricky mech in any deck that likes an unfair advantage.

Swing Last,
